Maanturai Amravaneswarar Temple is a temple in Lalgudi in Trichy along the Northern banks of Cauvery. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and the deity name is Amravaneswarar. This temple is one of the Paadal petra stahalangal and ithis temple is sung by Thirugnana Sambandar. The lingam here is suyambhu Lingam (Occurred from Nature without Building). During the 7th-8 th Century The Cholaraja Cheveda Ketu built a temple for Sri Amravaneshvara and consecrated Sri Palambigadevi and performed Mahabhishekam for the Brahmins. Architecture of Maanturai Amravaneswarar Temple
The Maanthurai Temple is located at the Northern banks of Cauvery at a Village called Manthurai near Lalgudi. This temple was built by Chola Raja Chevedu Ketu. The temple has a main Large Raja Gopuram. Likewise, Opposite to the Raja Gopuram there is the sacred Brahma Theertham. Coming to the Raja Gopuram, inside the Raja Gopuram there is a Corridor surrounding the entry of another Gopuram inside which the innser sanctum of Lord Amravaneswarar and Balambikai is present. The whole temple is designed in the Chola Architecture Style, Moreover the temple has two major vimanas one for Armravaneswarar and another for Balambigai. Inside the Temple there are two statues one for Lord Vigneshwarar and Lord Muruga. Additionally, the temple has the naalvar statues inside the temple. Thirugynanasambandhar, Appar, Manikkavasagar,Sundarar. Now coming outside the temple there are three separate vimanas 1) for VInayagar 2) Murugar-This murugar is sung in the famous Thirupugal 3) For Goddess Lakshmi. While traversing the prakharas you can fine the navagraha. Inside the temple right side of the Lord Amravaneswarar is the separate Balambigai Sanctum. Beside the temple there is a small river called the Gayathri Nadhi.

The temple is situated 15 km from Trichy. If you are coming from Chennai then you can take left before samayapuram near Siruganur(you can refer Goople Maps) to save time to reach the temple. The nearest Airport is Tiruchirapalli Airport.

Worship and Festivals of Maanturai Amravaneswarar Temple
The temple holds six daily rituals:
- Ushathkalam at 5:30 a.m.,
- Kalasanthi at 8:00 a.m.,
- Uchikalam at 10:00 a.m.
- Sayarakshai at 6:00 p.m.
- Irandamkalam at 8:00 p.m.
- Ardha Jamam at 10:00 p.m.
Each ritual includes four main steps:
- Abhisheka (sacred bath),
- Alangaram (decoration),
- Neivethanam (food offering),
- Deepa Aradanai (lamp waving)
to Manthuraiyan and Ambal. These rituals take place with the sound of nagaswaram (pipe instrument) and tavil (drum), accompanied by Vedic chants from priests and devotees offering prayers before the temple mast.
Weekly rituals include
Somavaram and Sukravaram, while fortnightly rituals like Pradosham and monthly events such as Amavasai (new moon), Kiruthigai, Pournami (full moon), and Sathurthi are also observed.
Major festivals include Annabishekam in Aipassi (October–November), Karthikai Deepam in November–December, and Adi Sankaracharya Jayanti in Vaikasi (May–June).
