Kanchi Kamakshi temple is a very old and historic temple dedicated to the goddess Kamakshi, who is the supreme god in shaktism. This temple has a sacred shree chakra with prathisatai done by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. The temple is situated in the Old and the most spiritual and historic town the Kanchipuram. There is also a Seperate temple near the sanctum of the temple for Adi Shankaracharya.
Who built the Temple?
The temple is beleived to be built by pallava kings during the 4-8th century and took over by the chola Kings.
