Chapter 3
Sounaghati Maharishis! Thus when Narada Rana preached the glory of Amravana Kshetra, Sage Mrigandhu heard this and said-
“Who are the sadhus in the world? What are they doing? These should be preached extensively to the servant”.
Hearing this, Narada says
“Those who are always full of virtue are said to be sadhus. As darkness does not approach the sun, selfishness never approaches them. They are not disturbed like the deep pool of the Ganges without attaining happiness due to virtue or shame. They see all beings as themselves. They are always benevolent and do not tolerate the sorrow of others , those who do not reproach, those who do not envy, desire They will be those who eradicate, those who do not fear enemies and friends and those who have patience.
And as those who do the Karmanushtanas according to their varnacharms, who do Aditi Sadkaram, who do not cause grief to others by saying the Nyaya Margam, who practice the Dharma Margam and make good their mothers, fathers and gurus, by reciting the legends of Itihasakonda, and listening to and telling their meaning , as available Sadhus are contented and have no desire for other people’s property.
Hey Mriganto! And sadhus do not see other women. They don’t even remember. Beneficial to all, doing heavenly good deeds, stable intellect and calm in times of danger.
Forty samskaras are mentioned in Smriti for Brahmins in the world. The elders say Bhagayagna, Havir Yagna, Menu and Somayagna. In it, say Jatakarmati works are Bhagayagna, Agnishdomam etc. works are Somayagna, Agnihotram etc. are Havirayagna
are learning Sadhus who know the Vedas will perform all the forty samskaras from Nishekam to Chmasanam (Jeevot Kraman) at appropriate times. They will be loving to all living beings.
And sadhus do not eat without worshiping God. They don’t even make thirtha drink. Any Purusha who worships Shivlingarch without sanam, he is born as Ametya Germ and eats vile flesh. Those who worship God with devotion through Chataruthriya mantras, they will be freed from millions of evils and will experience many blissful paths in this world and at the end they will be able to enjoy the bliss of Siva Lokam and Brahmananda. Hey Mriganto! There is no equivalent of Punya Karma to Shivarchanam. Even if you bow down to Shiva once or worship for a moment, thousands of sacrifices and many fasts of Krichirasandrayanadi will not be equal to this.
Risha who chants Shiva panchakshara with pranava
Touching the king Nandikevara with both hands and visiting the Shivalinga murti in the middle of the two horns, he is freed from all evils and becomes Jeevan Muktana. Whoever does Shiva darshan during pradhaka, he gets rid of all sins and reaches the heavenly world. He who visits in the Madhyamna gets the results of the Ashvamedha Yagya, he who visits in the evening becomes a holy man, and he who visits in the Pradosha period attains the fruits of his darsis in all these three times and also attains Shivaloka.
Hey Mrigandu Rishi! Sadhus will not slip away from these Shiva darshan pujas that I have told them, no matter how much trouble they face. There is no other deity who is more auspicious or equable than Sambasiva Murti. Therefore, those who are devoted to God, and those who gather with God’s devotees with supreme love, their birth is strong.
Hey Mrigandu Rishi! Brahmins perform these six karmas in the world namely, bath, Santhyavantanam, Aupasanam Japam, Devapujai, Adithistakaram and Vaichvadevam.

They will also do philanthropic works such as planting and nurturing trees, cutting teppakulam, creating oases of flowers for people to stay, setting up tirthasalas to quench people’s thirst, building churches and monasteries. They will do Mahadhanas every day for matters that are still pending.
Therefore, “O Mriganda! As the life and wealth of human beings are impermanent like lightning, now or tomorrow, they always perform Sadkarmanush donations and worship God as Vrata Sealas and attain Mokshananda”. Thus Narada preached to Mrigand Maharishi the Lakshana of Sadhus and Ashtanga Yogas and reached his abode Deva Loka.
