Chapter 17
“Sage Suta! It is said that the ashes brought by a Brahmin named Vedamitra became sutras when they arrived at Amravana Kshetra! This story should be told in detail,” says the sutra, only to hear the Saunakadi Maharishi.
“On the banks of the river Vegavati there is a town called Bhimapuri. In that town there was a brahmin named Gunanidhi. He was a great devotee of Shiva, a scholar of the Sakalvedic Vedas, a great man, a devotee of Nityakarmanushtana, and an Asara Seelan.
He had three children who were virtuous and intelligent
fibers. The eldest of them was named Sumati, the second child was named Vedamitran, and the third child was named Shivadharman. They did their prayers to the ancestors and walked without knocking their words. Many disciples used to do Vidyapyasam with them who were experts in Vedashastra. During this time, the Father’s twilight is near. Knowing that, the children should go near the father and bow down and pray for them. They prayed.
Seeing the sons praying in this way, the blessed one said, ‘O sons! Shivarchanam, loving Shiva devotees, performing Sivakathasiravanam, Rudraksha vibhuti taranam, greeting the guests who come at the end of Vaishvadevam every day, and offering alms to the devotees, etc. must be performed. But you should not give in to them. Because the scholars say that they are the root cause of all chaos, hell and passion in the world. Therefore, they have much love in all things
Do not store. Lahodars should not partake unless the elder consents. Many doshas are caused by segmentation, Pandits do not spell the segment. Hey guys! Let me tell you one more thing. “Take my ashes to the Ganga and bury them,” said the father, and died.
Then the sons performed the Anthya Karmas to their Mahatma Father with great effort in the Shastra prakaram. Then the second son Vedamitran looked at his son and said, “You are equal to your father as you are a Jyeshta. And if you do good deeds, it will give immense satisfaction to the father. Therefore, stay in the griha and do austerities. May your brother Shivadharman also stay at home and help you as he is a boy. I will take my father’s ashes and bury them in the Ganges.” ‘ Saying goodbye with Anna’s blessing, he put the ashes in a secret silver box without anyone knowing and took it in his hand and skill in Subathinam
Kashiyatra left with many disciples. On the way, he would give a silver box containing figs to his disciple and perform kamas such as bathing, but the disciples did not know that the box contained ashes. Looking at them, he said, ‘There is a king’s worth in this vessel. So protect more carefully. He said
He crossed many rivers and kshetras and reached the holy river Kaveri, which removes all sins. He went to Amravanam, which is full of rishikanas in the northern part of Kaveri and is illuminated with Brahma Theertha, took bath in Brahma Theertha, completed Deva Pitru Darpanam etc., saw the Maha Lingam and stayed there that night. In a dream at night, he saw Ganga born from Brahmasarassi, illuminated by golden lotus flowers, and worshiped by Siddhasaranas, and became ecstatic. After waking up in the morning and completing his daily rituals, he thought about what he had seen in his dream and was surprised to set out on a pilgrimage. He saw one of the disciples in a silver box without the Guru’s knowledge
I told you. At night in Amravana, when I was sleeping, I saw this Ganga rising from the Jatamudi of Ratnalingechvara in the middle of the Brahmatirtha. The same Ganga is now seen as washing water for my eyes only! Don’t you know the reason?” he said sadly. Immediately Pingalashan folded his hands and remembered Amravanatirtha Mahatma in his mind and said, “Hey Kuro! Impelled by the desire to see what was in this ‘box, without your knowledge, I opened the box in Amravana. Then I saw that the Sudharatna was burning in the box. Now let’s see how they are.”
The Guru immediately opened the box and found the bones with Durkanda. I came here without knowing the Mahatmiyam of Amravana Sthala after seeing the Guru. The sages said that it is the Dakshina Ganga, but I do not respect their words. Swapn, I saw too. The bones are deformed and the mother has a bad smell because she came here unconscious. Knowing the glory of the Amravana Kshetra, I bathed in the Ganges, saying that the water of the Ganges seemed to me to be washing water
After finishing Darpanadis, Ravishwesar Kama Dundi, Gananathan and Bhairava performed abhishekam pooja according to the rules, performed kshetra fast, performed siratha in the morning, made special alms to Brahmins, and with his disciples, Vishvanatha lay down and slept in the mandapam of the sannidhi.
